Justin founded his first construction company at the age of eighteen. Driven by an ambition to understand every facet of the industry, he later transitioned to the design side, spending close to two decades in mechanical, life science, and process engineering. The experience gave him a perspective few construction professionals have the opportunity to develop — the discipline of engineering paired with the realities of the jobsite.

He returned to construction with a clear aspiration: to improve project quality and efficiency. From years on both sides of the industry, he had identified a persistent and costly gap — the disconnect between what designers intend and what the field actually requires. At the time, he had no certain path forward. The tools available to him were the ones the industry had always relied on — manual review, checklists, meetings, emails — and none of them scaled to every page of every project. When practical artificial intelligence emerged, the answer became obvious: AI was the only tool capable of applying senior-level review to every page of every project, at the speed the work demanded. Closing that gap became the mission of Struxen.

That mission shapes how he builds. Justin does not create systems in search of problems; he builds AI to solve the ones he has encountered firsthand. He believes AI in construction must do more than accelerate work — it must improve the underlying process and improve project outcomes.

Artificial intelligence is the first technology in construction’s history that can hold a career’s worth of knowledge. For Justin, that is its most important purpose — to encode the methods, systems, and lessons learned by experienced builders, and to make them available to the next generation on every project, every time. AI is not a replacement for the people who built the industry. It is the means by which their experience can outlast them.
