Projects

Create a project with the five-step wizard, configure its eleven settings sections, and work the all-projects portfolio view.

A project is one job, and it is the container everything else in Struxen sits inside. This page covers creating one, configuring it, and finding it again.

Before you create a project

CORE is free for up to 3 projects, with no organization fee. Creating a CORE project inside that tier is not a purchase. Any member of the organization can create a project. It is not restricted to Owners and Admins.

The $500/month organization fee starts when you go past 3 CORE projects, or when you add LEDGER, STRUX, VANTAGE, or another product that is not CORE. On that paid path, each project also carries a one-time $250 setup fee. VANTAGE, if you add it, is $250 per month for that project. See Billing for the published amounts.

Create a project

From the top bar, open the project switcher and choose All projects, then click New project. The wizard is five steps, or six if you are importing from Autodesk. A progress rail across the top shows where you are, and you can click back to any step you have already visited.

The only required field in the whole wizard is the project name. Everything else can be left blank and set later.

Source

Pick where the project comes from.

  • Start blank creates an empty workspace. You add drawings, specs and data afterwards.
  • Import from Autodesk Forma connects an existing Autodesk project and adds an extra Import step. See Integrations for what imports and what does not.

Import (Autodesk path only)

Choose the hub and the project, then the folders to pull from and which record types to keep in sync. This step only appears when you chose the Autodesk source.

Details

FieldRequiredNotes
Project nameYesUp to 200 characters.
ClientNoCollected here but not stored on the project record, so it does not appear in project settings afterwards.
LocationNoWorth filling in. It is what the assistant answers site questions from.
Construction valueNoAccepts shorthand such as 1.2m or 850k. Sizes the compute allowance.
StatusNoPreconstruction, Bidding, Active or Closed. Defaults to Preconstruction.

A compute panel under the fields shows the allowance the construction value buys. Leave the value blank and the allowance is sized on the Review step instead.

Documents

There is nothing to do on this step for a blank project. It says so: "Nothing to do here. Drawings and specs are added on the project's Documents page once the project exists." The wizard has no upload control, so nothing you could stage here would survive.

On the Autodesk path this step is a read-only summary of the record types and folder count the connector will pull in.

Team

You can list email addresses and roles here, and they appear on the Review step. Do not rely on this step to give anyone access. Grant access after the project exists, from Settings:

  • Organization membership: Users & teams (/settings/users-teams).
  • Access to this project: Team under Current project (/settings/project-team).

Review

A read-only summary with an Edit link on each section, plus the two controls that change what you pay.

The compute allowance slider. Drag it to scale the monthly compute allowance up or down from the figure your construction value recommends.

The VANTAGE add-on toggle, which is on by default. Struxen VANTAGE is a paid add-on at $250 per month per project. It is not in CORE, and adding it is the paid path. The wizard includes it unless you turn it off here. The switch reads Included or Not included. If you want to stay on free CORE, or you do not want the 3D digital twin and the automated design reviews, switch it off before you continue. You can add it later from Settings under /settings/project-vantage.

Read the order summary before you continue. Published prices are on Pricing and in Billing.

Click Create project.

What happens after Create project

A setup overlay runs a short progress list while the project record is written and, on the Autodesk path, the import scope is linked. On the paid path it then sends you to Stripe for secure checkout. Payment activates the project, and Stripe returns you to the project, which becomes your current project.

If the Autodesk link fails, the project is still created and checkout still proceeds. You get a message telling you to retry the link from Settings under Forma sync.

Project settings

Everything under the Current project group in Settings applies to the project you have open, and only that one.

Editing the project record

Only three fields on Details round-trip to the server and back: name, location and description. Client and project type are not stored on the project record, so they are not editable there. Status is shown but read only, because changing it has a billing consequence that does not belong on a form's Save button.

Fill in location early if you fill in nothing else. It is the address the assistant answers site questions from, and without it STRUX reports that it has no location information for the job.

Project access levels

Access to a project is Manager, Editor or Viewer, granted on /settings/project-team from the organization roster. Add people in bulk: select several, set a level for each, commit once. The last Manager on a project cannot be removed or demoted. Full detail is in Roles and permissions.

Deleting a project

Delete is permanent and it is not reversible. It destroys the project's documents, findings, reviews, registers and comments.

  1. Open Settings, then Danger zone under Current project.
  2. Click Delete project.
  3. Type the project name exactly, including case, into the confirmation field.
  4. Click Permanently delete.

The dialog will not close while the delete is running, so you always see the outcome. Three outcomes are reported differently, on purpose:

  • Success: the project leaves the switcher and you land on the all-projects view.
  • File storage could not be cleaned up: the message says the project was not deleted and its data is intact. That failure happens before anything is removed.
  • Timeout or gateway failure: the message says the outcome is unknown, because the request stopped being watched and the server may have finished. Reload the all-projects view to see which happened.

Demo projects cannot be deleted.

The all-projects view

Open the project switcher and choose All projects to reach /projects. Each card carries the project name, its location, a status tag, and a strip of register counts once the portfolio data lands. Clicking a card makes it your current project and takes you to its home.

Refresh re-reads the counts. New project starts the wizard.

Four tabs sit above the cards:

TabWhat it answers
ProjectsWhich jobs do I have, and how do I get into one.
HealthWhich of them is in trouble, and in which register.
ExecThe company in four numbers.
Financial ViewsThe organization WIP schedule.

Financial Views is only shown to organization Owners and Admins. It is hidden for everyone else rather than shown disabled, and it counts a different set of projects from the other tabs because it applies no lifecycle filter. The tab says so on its own surface.

A lifecycle filter above the cards offers Active, Closed and All, and defaults to Active. It applies to the Projects and Health tabs only. If the filter empties the list you get "No active projects" with a Show all button, which is a different message from having no projects at all.

When counts are missing

The card counts are an enrichment layered on top of the project list, and the two fail independently.

  • If the counts cannot be loaded, a warning appears above the cards and the cards still work. Losing a number never costs you the ability to switch jobs.
  • If some registers answered and others did not, an information notice says the totals exclude the registers that did not answer, so they are a floor rather than a total. Each row names which ones.
  • If the project list itself will not load, nothing is offered. An empty list and a failed read are reported as two different things, because "New project" starts the wizard and must never be offered to somebody who actually has eleven live jobs.
