Integrations

Struxen connects to Autodesk Construction Cloud and Forma. You can browse your hubs and projects, import drawings and specification books, create a Struxen project from a Forma project, push new RFIs and Issues back into ACC, and keep a project in sync on a schedule.

Autodesk is the source of truth. Records flow from ACC into Struxen. Edits you make in Struxen to a synced record do not flow back. There is no two-way sync and no real-time sync.

Three different Autodesk connections

These get confused constantly, and they do different things.

Signing in with Autodesk does not connect your project data. If you signed in that way and the Integrations page says Not connected, that is correct and expected. Connect separately.

Connecting your Autodesk account

Any signed-in Struxen member can connect their own account.

1. Open Settings, then Integrations (/settings/integrations).
2. On the Autodesk Forma card, click Connect.
3. Sign in to Autodesk and approve the access request.
4. You return to Struxen. The card shows Connected and names the account.

The card can also read Reconnect needed, which means the stored authorization stopped working. Click Reconnect Autodesk and sign in again. Nothing already imported is affected.

To disconnect, click Disconnect on the same card. Documents already imported stay in your Struxen projects.

If you are not an Autodesk Account Admin, the connect still succeeds for you personally, and Struxen tells you that the organization still needs an Account Admin to connect before scheduled sync can be enabled for the team. Your personal connection is enough to browse, import, and push records as yourself.

Importing drawings and specifications

Import happens per project, from the Forma path in the project wizard or the import workspace on an existing project. Struxen scans the ACC project and offers what it found in two groups:

Two limits are enforced:

• PDFs only. Nothing else is offered for import.
• 250 files per import. A larger selection is refused. Split it and run the import again.

The scanner marks files you have already imported and flags the ones whose ACC version is newer than what you have.

Specification books that come in are split on CSI section boundaries the same way a direct upload is, so they land in the specifications register. See Specifications.

You can also create a new Struxen project directly from a Forma project, on the first step of the project wizard. See Projects.

Per-project sync

Owners and Admins configure this from Settings, then Forma sync (/settings/project-forma-sync).

• Automatic sync is the master switch. With it off, nothing is pulled until someone presses Sync now, so there are no automatic imports and no processing charges.
• Synced record types are toggled individually: Sheets, Spec sections, RFIs, Submittals, Issues, Schedule.
• Sync frequency is Manual only, Daily, or Weekly.
• Sync now runs one immediately. It is throttled to once every 30 seconds per project.

Turning a record type on for the first time triggers a backfill straight away rather than waiting for the next scheduled run.

Pushing records back to ACC

On a project linked to Autodesk, creating a new RFI or a new Issue creates it in ACC, authored as your signed-in Autodesk user. That is what your personal connection is for. If you have not connected, the create is refused with a message saying so.

This is the only direction that writes. Editing an RFI, an issue, a submittal or a document that came from ACC changes your Struxen copy only. Make the change in ACC.

Limits and constraints to know before you start

Direct document upload to a Forma-sourced project	Refused with FORMA_UPLOAD_LOCKED: "This project mirrors documents from Autodesk Forma. Direct uploads would diverge from the source. To add documents, upload them in Forma; they will sync automatically." See Uploading.
Scheduled sync without an ACC Account Admin	Manual sync and personal pushes work. Scheduled sync stays unavailable to the organization.
Import file types	PDF only, 250 files per import
Edits to synced records	Stay local. Forma is the source of truth.

Troubleshooting

The hub list is empty after connecting. The Autodesk identity you used can see no hubs, or the Struxen application is not installed on the hub as a custom integration. Confirm with your Autodesk Account Admin that Struxen is authorized on the hub, then reconnect.

Some folders are missing from the import picker. The scanner only shows what the connecting identity can read in ACC. Confirm the access in ACC, then disconnect and reconnect so the new permissions are picked up.

An imported drawing has the wrong title. ACC often leaves the sheet title empty and carries the human-readable name on the uploaded file instead. Struxen prefers the file name when the title is blank. If it is still wrong, correct it on the sheet in Struxen.

Fewer specification files than you expected. The specification scan filters out submittal attachments and other PDFs that live under user-content folders but are not spec books. It is deliberately conservative: a short, correct list beats a long one full of attachments. Anything it missed can be uploaded directly on a native project.

The card says Reconnect needed and you did not change anything. Autodesk authorizations expire and can be revoked from the Autodesk side. Click Reconnect Autodesk.

You cannot connect at all. Email support@struxen.io with your organization name and the Autodesk hub name. Connecting depends on how the Struxen application is registered against your ACC account, which is not something you can fix from inside Struxen.
